CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- April 1 is the “International Bird Love Day” stipulated by World Convention for the Protection of Beneficial Birds. At present, in Sanduoqiao Egret Reserve of Baishiyi Town, High-tech Area, Chongqing, groups of egrets are living in lush green woods, forming a unique landscape painting of idyllic scenery and egrets. Every year, tens of thousands of egrets build nests here, and countless new lives break their shells, grow, and fly here...

Sanduoqiao Egret Nature Reserve is the first Egret Nature Reserve in China and a national A-level scenic spot, which is located in Lvjiawan, Sanduoqiao Village, Baishiyi Town, High-tech Area, Chongqing. Integrating nature protection and wild egret reserve, it is a scenic spot where people and birds live harmoniously.

From March to August every year is the breeding season for herons, and egrets, night herons, pond herons and other herons will breed here. At the peak, there are tens of thousands of adult and young birds.

In order to better protect herons, a local patrol team composed of police station patrol members, reserve staff, and Sanduoqiao villagers was established to patrol the reserve and its surrounding areas every day.

Looking at the flocks of egrets, Zhou Hongfeng, the Deputy Director of Sanduoqiao Village Committee, was quite moved and said that “This flock of birds are just like ‘family members’ to our village.”

In the small village, among mountains and rivers, herons flew by. Zhou Hongfeng told the reporter that a few years ago, the number of herons here had declined due to food reduction. After years of hard work, the number of herons had begun to increase in the past two years, reaching nearly 10,000 in spring.

A heron stretched out its huge wings and drew a graceful arc in the air.

On a fine spring day, the 79-year-old Qian Guangshu was photographing herons in Sanduoqiao Egret Nature Reserve. She told the reporter: “I have long heard that there is a Herons Village in Baishiyi. I arrived here today and found that it is indeed well-deserved, and the herons are so spectacular.”

The graceful figures of herons are full of beauty against the clouds and mountains. Behind the natural landscape that “people and herons live in the same village”, there are a series of villagers’ marks of spontaneous protection of the ecological environment and the habitat of herons. Zhou Hongfeng said: “The herons are spiritual. They choose here to show that the mountains and rivers here are good. We must protect these herons.” (Translated by Zhang Ying, Fathom Language Limited)
