CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- There is a new tourism destination in the suburbs of Chongqing. Recently, Chongqing Jiangjin · Shimen Rural Tourism, and the 12th Late-maturing Citrus Fruit Picking Festival was opened in Jinlong Village, Shimen Town, Jiangjin District. More than 2 million catties of late- maturing citrus were to be picked by tourists. The entire festival will last to May 31.

It is said that Shimen Town is located on the banks of the Yangtze River in the northwest of Jiangjin. It meets spring early and boasts warm winter, short autumn, long summer, rain in hot season and sufficient sunlight, so it is suitable for developing citrus industry. It has been rated as Chongqing Municipal Agricultural Demonstration Park, National Leisure Agriculture and Rural Tourism Demonstration Site, Chongqing Most Beautiful Rural Destination and so on.

At present, it is the harvest season of late-maturing citrus. In Jinlong Village, Shimen Town, citruses are hanging on the branches, filled with a faint aroma of fruit. Among them, the area of late-maturing citrus of more than 10 varieties in total is about 4000 mu, including “Kiyomi” and red juice orange. Among the late-maturing citrus varieties, “Kiyomi” is the most famous, and its picking period is from March to June. It has thin skin, soft and juicy flesh, and sweet taste. During the picking period, it has a special scene of flowers and fruits growing in the same plant.
