CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- With its unique topography, Chongqing has the natural advantage of becoming the premier outdoor sports destination in China. And thanks to a series of branded sporting events settling in Chongqing, outdoor sports have gradually become Chongqing’s sports representative. In 2021, Chongqing Sports Bureau has planned a series of public sports events. Recently, Chongqing Sports Bureau, in conjunction with Chongqing Geographic Information and Remote Sensing Application Center, launched a series of maps on Chongqing as a National Top Outdoor Sports Destination. You can choose a place to exercise from the map.

The theme of this time is marathon and cross-country running events in 2021. The following is an introduction to some of marathon and cross-country running events in Chongqing.

Chongqing International Marathon

Chongqing International Marathon is an international event that combines Olympic Trials and National Marathon Championships, and has become the first international full marathon in western China, and the first to be held along the Yangtze River. Although Chongqing International Marathon, originally scheduled for March this year, has been postponed to November, the Organizing Committee has announced that a new event, 2021 Chongqing Changjiahui Half Marathon of Chongqing International Marathon, will be held on April 18.

2021 Chongqing Bishan Half Marathon

Chongqing Bishan Half Marathon is poised to host its 4th edition in 2021. 2021 Chongqing Bishan Half Marathon will start at 8:00am on Sunday, April 11, 2021. The scale of this year’s event is 12,000 participants in total, including 6,000 people for the half marathon (21.0975km) and 6,000 people for the mini marathon (about 7.5km).

Chongqing Bishan Half Marathon, a popular and unique road race in Chongqing, has been awarded “China Athletics Association Bronze Medal Race” and “Natural Ecology Feature Race”. The marathon course runs through the city, allowing participants to enjoy the ecology of Bishan and the unique charm of “elegant Bishan, idyllic city”.

2021 Chongqing Dianjiang Peony Half Marathon

2021 Chongqing Dianjiang Peony Half Marathon kicked off at 9:00 on April 5, 2021 at Nanyang Park, Dianjiang County, Chongqing. There were 5,000 runners on the “Peony Horse” course, experiencing the historical charm of the hometown of peony and the ultimate flavor of the blossoming flowers and human landscapes. There was a half marathon of 21.0975km (2,000 people), a mini marathon for the general public (2,000 people in the Red Running Group) and a mini marathon for families (1,000 people in the Little Red Army Group).

2021 Chongqing Dianjiang Peony Half Marathon incorporates the elements of Dianjiang peony culture and the new look of the thousand-year-old county into the marathon, with the whole course revolving around Dianjiang East New Area, Dianjiang Smart City Operation Center, Sanhe Lake Wetland Park, Mudan Lake Wetland Park, Wenbi Lake Wetland Park, Nanyang Park and Sports Culture Park. The course is carefully set up to show the regional characteristics of Dianjiang and reflect the city’s charm.

2021 Chengdu-Chongqing Marathon

2020 “Yuhan Technology” Chengdu-Chongqing Marathon started on December 27, 2020 at the People’s Square in Rongchang District. A total of 4,988 runners ran freely in this national forest city, helping Rongchang join the ranks of the national sports consumption pilot cities (districts) with their running. A 36km section of the course was chosen to showcase the beauty of Rongchang to runners from all over the world, taking in the best and most distinctive part of Laixihe Sports and Cultural Park.

Chongqing Wulong Fairy Mountain Marathon

2020 Chongqing Wulong Fairy Mountain Marathon kicked off in Chongqing Wulong Fairy Mountain National Tourism Resort with 2,000 runners from Sichuan and Chongqing participating in. The event consisted of a half marathon (21.0975km) and a mini marathon (about 5.8km) with a total of 2,000 participants. There was an individual race and a couples race for the half marathon, and an individual race and a parent-child race for the mini marathon. Compared with other marathons, the most important feature of the Marathon was that it was the first resort marathon in Chongqing, combining the tourism resources of Fairy Mountain in Wulong District. The course passed through Jinma Square, Fairy Mountain Cultural and Tourism Town, Tianchiping, Boxiang Art Museum, Venture Square and Jinding Square.
