CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On April 3, 2021 Yongchuan Marathon and Half Marathon of the 6th Chongqing Games kicked off at Yongchuan Xinglong Lake Park, attracting 18,000 marathon enthusiasts from across the country.
Yongchuan Marathon was organized by China Athletics Association, Chongqing Sports Bureau and Yongchuan People’s Government. As Yongchuan Marathon was held in combination with Half Marathon of the 6th Chongqing Games, three categories were set up: Marathon (42.19km), Half Marathon (21.09km) and Mini Marathon (5km).
In the most popular half marathon event, Li Bo, who is known as the “best male runner” in Chongqing, showed excellent form at the beginning and left other participants far behind, finally taking the gold medal for the half marathon event at the 6th Chongqing Games with a score of 1 hour, 5 minutes and 54 seconds and breaking his own personal best.
Compared to the men’s half marathon, the women’s half marathon was a little more uneventful, with Ding Changqin winning in a time of 1 hour, 16 minutes and 21 seconds.
In the full marathon category, there was a fierce battle between Cen Wanjiang, Guan Siyang, Sun Xiaoyang and Guan Yousheng. In the end, Cen Wanjiang, an amateur runner from Guizhou, came out on top, winning the race in 2 hours, 17 minutes and 36 seconds; Guan Yousheng, also a famous runner from Guizhou, was the second runner-up; and Sun Xiaoyang from Hebei was the third runner-up.
