CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Have you ever had such an experience while driving: in a complex underground garage or bridge tunnel, the navigation software suddenly failed to receive any signal and “went on strike”. The reporter recently learned that the “5G + Beidou” precision navigation system jointly developed by China Mobile (Chongqing) and China Mobile Shanghai Research Institute was officially launched along Jiefangbei Underground Ring Road in Yuzhong District. In this project, 5G technology was used to fill the technical gap of the domestic underground tunnel without Beidou GPS satellite navigation, solving the problem that drivers were difficult to receive the navigation satellite signal when driving on the underground ring road.
According to China Mobile (Chongqing), the “5G + Beidou” precision navigation system realized the deep integration of 5G and Beidou satellite navigation system, making full use of the large bandwidth, low latency, and wide connection technical advantages of 5G and the navigation, positioning, timing, short message communication superior abilities of Beidou satellite navigation system. They were mutually enabled and reinforced, providing all-weather, sub-meter level high-precision positioning service for drivers on the underground ring road, and effectively solving the navigation problems of it.
At present, 9 underground parking garages have been connected in the First Phase of Jiefangbei Underground Ring Road Project, and the navigation project has been completed and opened. In the future, 26 garages covering 7 entrances and exits and 21,000 parking spaces will be connected.
In addition, the system is also compatible with billions of smart phones, vehicle navigation and other stock positioning and navigation equipment, and can quickly be switched and connected with outdoor Beidou and GPS systems to provide citizens with more intelligent information services.
China Mobile (Chongqing) said that it would continue increasing the 5G construction in the central urban area, have built and opened nearly 500 5G base stations in Yuzhong District, weaving a high-quality and high-precision positioning network which can be widely used in automatic driving, intelligent transportation and other transportation fields in the future. Next, China Mobile (Chongqing) would continue promoting the “5G + Beidou” high-precision positioning system into the field of mass consumption and people’s livelihood to help the construction of smart city.
