CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- According to Chongqing Transportation Development & Investment Group, the urban design preliminary plan of the first batch of rail transit TOD (public transportation-oriented development model) comprehensive development - 4 TOD Urban Demonstration Stations of CRT Line 1 (Majiayan Station, Weidianyuan Station, Laijiaqiao Station and Ciqikou Station) was released after being reviewed by expert group.

“TOD comprehensive development is not only an important measure to improve the urban energy level and realize urban renewal, but also to build a ‘main metropolitan area on the track’ with high quality,” said Li Fangyu, Chairman of Chongqing Transportation Development & Investment Group.

At present, the construction of Chongqing rail transit has entered into a critical period. After all the four phases of planned projects are started within this year, the scale under construction will reach 384 kilometers. By 2025, the total scale of the city’s rail transit will reach 1,000 kilometers.

According to the plan, our city would speed up the TOD comprehensive development of rail transit. The 4 TOD Urban Demonstration Stations of Line 1 were selected by Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau and Chongqing Transportation Development & Investment Group among the 14 stations on the whole line.

Weidianyuan TOD Demonstration Station ▶ “Technological Innovation” Site

Encrypting internal slow-moving system to increase walking distance

The reporter saw that Weidianyuan TOD Demonstration Station is a “Technological Innovation” Site. Multiple types of businesses such as complexes and commercial streets would be set up, the supporting facilities of urban new industrial area would be improved, a new commercial and business center with industry-city linkage and diversified functions would be built, and office, commerce, hotel, apartment, rental housing and other business formats would be laid out.

Namely a central square would be created, greening would be increased, a slow-moving matrix system would be designed, the connection between the central square and the community greening would be densified, and the important space nodes of the city would be connected by building a TOD core ring.

At present, the existing road network around Weidianyuan Station is relatively perfect, but the road network on the south side is undeveloped, the accessibility is relatively weak, and people can reach 280 hectares within a 15-minute walk from the Site. According to the plan, the roads around the Site would be improved, the internal slow-moving system would be encrypted, and the central axis square would be extended to the south to increase the walking range of the south area.

Building a green sharing, ecological and intelligent livable place

Laijiaqiao TOD Demonstration Station is a “Technological Innovation” Site. Through the TOD plan of “one core, one belt and one ring”, relying on green ecology and waterfront resources, the riverside commercial and medical facilities would be improved, an intelligent and livable life circle that serves industrial talents would be created, and ecological communities, high-quality housing and rental housing would be laid out to improve the living quality of talents in the High-tech Zone and Western (Chongqing) Science City, and build an ecological and intelligent livable place for green sharing and talents serving.

“One core” refers to the scientist community regarded as the engine, “one belt” refers to a business belt formed along the river based on the scientist community and TOD supporting business, and “one ring” refers to the ecological living and residential ring.

Ciqikou TOD Demonstration Station ▶ “Humanistic Inheritance” Site

Creating a bus route within 5-10 minutes in Ciqikou Scenic Area

Ciqikou TOD Demonstration Station is a “Humanistic Inheritance” Site. Through the TOD plan of “one core, two axes and multiple clusters”, an innovative business travel destination with cultural rejuvenation and consumption upgrades would be built.

According to the plan, the scattered scenic spots would be connected and a one-day tour system would be built by optimizing roads, building cable cars and creating a slow-moving landscape corridor. At the same time, a slow-moving system would be established and the atmosphere of the commercial pedestrian street would be optimized, so as to improve the accessibility of the riverside area along the Jialing River; Ciqikou Tourism Center would be set up in combination with the rail stations, the connection between the main nodes would be strengthened and a bus route within 5-10 minutes in Ciqikou scenic area would be created.

At the same time, the urgently needed high-end hotels, high-quality residential areas, cultural commerce and other functional business formats in Shaci Scenic Area would be completed, and a cultural consumption core that integrates Ciqikou, Cummins, and Gele Mountain would be created.

Majiayan TOD Demonstration Station ▶ “Urban Regeneration” Site

Building an ecological, popular and livable comprehensive activity area

Majiayan TOD Demonstration Station is an “Urban Regeneration” Site. Related industrial clusters focusing on the education industry would be created. Namely, urban spaces and “cultural and sports parks” would be linked through “one belt and two axes”, a district engine and a new urban service center that is dominated by cultural and sports and ecologically complex would be created.

Of which, “one belt” mainly refers to the TOD core functional area belt formed through the community cultural center and the urban green corridor; “two axes” refers to connecting the cities through the regional slow-moving system and TOD Sites to resolve the original elevation difference.

At the same time, relying on high-quality public resources such as medical care and universities near the Site, a regional scarce public service center would be created to form an ecological, popular, and livable comprehensive activity area that meets the needs of various customers. In the core functional area, a public transportation system suitable for mountainous areas would be introduced to facilitate the travel of local residents.
