Big data from Ctrip shows that the population of this year’s May 1 travel is expected to reach 200 million. About 70 percent of them choose to travel to other provinces, and Chongqing ranks sixth among the most popular tourist destinations in China.

How hot is May 1 holiday? According to the data, up to April 14, compared with the same period in 2019, the number of orders for air tickets, hotels, tickets and car rentals during the May Day holiday has achieved a positive growth of 23%, 43%, 114% and 126%, respectively. The number of tourists is expected to exceed 200 million and achieve a new high.

From the booking of air tickets, at present, many places part of the economy class flights have been sold out. Air ticket orders exceeded the same level in 2019, up 23%. The average ticket price for economy class is 1,021 yuan, exceeding the average price for the same period in 2019. Shanghai, Beijing, Sanya, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi’an, Xiamen, Hangzhou and Shenzhen were among the top 10 travel destinations.

In terms of group Tours, as of April 14, the number of people booking cross-provincial group Tours for May Day rose nearly sixfold from the same period in April (which covered Tomb Sweeping Day). Different from the way of cross-province travel in previous years, this year’s May 1 car rental cross-province travel is very popular. The current car rental orders have increased 126% from the same period in 2019, of which nearly 90% are cross-provincial demand.
