Beitang Xiajiang Trail

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- According to the Chongqing Housing and Urban Rural Construction Commission, five trails in Chongqing are being upgraded this year. Among them, the Jingangbei section of the Beitang Xiajiang Trail is expected to open on May Day, providing another tourist spot for citizens and tourists for leisure time, exercise and travels.

Since the publication of the Implementation Plan for the Construction of the “Mountain City Trail” in the Main Urban Area of Chongqing in May 2019, according to the work process of “change in one year, model in two years, and well-known brand in three years”, with the goal of creating trails of green access, landscape recreation, nostalgic memories and experience for urban views, Chongqing has accelerated the construction of 17 Mountain City Trails of about 353 kilometers in the main urban area.

Up to now, 17 trails, including Hongen Trail and Chongqing Iron and Steel Trail, have been under construction, and about 198 kilometers of Geleshan Trail and Shaci Trail have been put into use.

In 2021, there are 5 trails included in the key practical projects for people’s livelihood, namely the Beitang Xiajiang Trail, Jinyunshan Trail, Huangjueping Trail, Nanbin Trail and Huangchengqiang Trail. Among them, there are 3 street trails, 1 riverside trail and 1 mountain forest trail.

The Beitang Xiajiang Trail is built based on the city quality improvement on both sides of the Jialing River, by taking the theme of exploring the natural scenery of the small three gorges of the Jialing River and the humanistic attractions along the way, with a total length of about 26 kilometers. The trail runs from Chengjiang Old Street in Beibei District to the entrance of Guanyin Gorge, connecting 24 cultural relics protection units and traditional neighborhoods such as Lu Zuofu Memorial Hall, Jingangbei and Zhang Fei Ancient Trail.

The Jingangbei section of the Beitang Xiajiang Trail has beautiful natural scenery and profound humanistic heritage. Jingangbei has well-preserved walls, gates, traditional neighborhoods, residences and 100 ancient trees, making it a unique historical and cultural town and traditional area.
