“Chongqing Talents · Excellent Scientists” Cartoon Image Exhibition held
CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In our impression, scientists are quite serious, while cartoon characters are lively, witty and lovely. When the two are combined, what effect will be achieved? As the fifth “National Science and Technology Workers Day” approached, “Chongqing Talents · Excellent Scientists” Cartoon Image Exhibition was held at Chongqing Science and Technology Museum.
According to the relevant person in charge of Chongqing Association for Science and Technology, in recent years, Chongqing Talents Program had been vigorously implemented and a number of Chongqing talents and excellent scientists have been selected. These scientists were excellent representatives of scientific and technological workers in Chongqing; and they fully embodied the spiritual characteristics of scientists in the new era and had a strong demonstration and leading effect.
In cooperation with Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, the sponsor of this Cartoon Image Exhibition created the cartoon images of 31 excellent scientists in the first batch, such as Xiang Zhonghuai, a famous silkworm expert and academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, who led the team to preside over and complete the world’s first silkworm genome framework map; and Zhou Jianting, the director of State Key Laboratory of Bridges and Tunnels in Mountainous Areas, who had been committed to solving bridge problems for many years and had overcome a large number of major scientific research problems in bridge engineering technology.
The relevant person in charge of Chongqing Association for Science and Technology hoped to make scientists closer to life and make their spirit more vivid with this lively and interesting way so as to guide the whole society to regard scientists as idols and change scientific and technological work into a profession that everyone aspires to.
Xu Jingjun, one of the cartoon creators and the Deputy Dean of the Film-Video-Animation School of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, said that the scientists’ cartoon images were expected to be made into New Year pictures and posters in the next step, entering into ordinary people’s homes as well as primary and secondary schools. In this popular form, scientists’ images and scientific spirit would be closer to the public.
