QINGDAO, June 2 (Xinhua) -- The second Global Health Forum of the Boao Forum for Asia opened in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province, on Wednesday.

In a speech at the opening ceremony, Li Bin, vice chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, called for unity and cooperation from countries worldwide to build a global community of health.

China, always placing high importance on the life and health of its people, has supported global cooperation against the COVID-19 pandemic while properly coping with the domestic epidemic situation, Li stressed.

The international community should make unremitting efforts to enhance the public health system, uphold multilateralism in improving global health governance, and make basic medical and health services fair and accessible, said Li. Enditem
