CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- As the Dragon Boat Festival approaches, reports from major travel companies show that the domestic travel market continues to improve with citizens still willing to travel. As of June 2, Ctrip booking orders increased 135% year-on-year. Among them, Chongqing and other cities listed in the top ten popular destinations in the China.

This year’s Dragon Boat Festival has three days of vacation, which is not so prevalent compared to the “May Day” long-distance travel. Consumers mainly prefer short and medium distance travel. Data show that, at present, nearly 50% of tourists registered within 300 kilometers of the surrounding tour, more than 60% of tourists choose to travel within the province.

From the demographic profiles of tourists, the current booking of travel products, women outnumbered with a proportion of 57% than men by 14 percentage points. In terms of ages, the post-90s love to travel the most, accounting for 39%; the number of post-00s travelers increased 9.6 times compared with 2020, accounting for 16%, exceeding that of the post-70s; the post-80s accounted for 30%. Among them, the post-80s parent-child order is more than two times the post-90s parent-child order, so it seems that every holiday, “accompanying children” is the top priority of the post-80s.

In addition to the rise of tour around, “hotel-style vacation” is also a major change in travel. Hotel as a destination for up to 2-3 days of travel, food, accommodation and one-stop consumption of the “hotel-style vacation” gets popular recently. The data shows that the booking volume of hotels around the Dragon Boat Festival has increased by about 30% compared to the same period in 2019.

It is worth mentioning that, compared to the May Day Golden Week, the high star-rated hotel booking volume accounted for nearly 50% for the Dragon Boat Festival, compared to the May Day 40% for nearly 10% increase. Great one-stop accommodation in short period of time has become the mainstream demand of hotel consumers.

Ctrip Research Institute industry analyst Fang Zexi said that from the current registration situation, the number of travelers on this year’s Dragon Boat Festival is expected to recover to the level of the same period in 2019, and is expected to reach 100 million. Tourists are advised to have their regular prevention and control of the epidemic, plan their trips in advance, wear masks, wash their hands regularly and keep social distance during their travels.
