Art works at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport come from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute
CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chengdu Tianfu International Airport was officially put into operation on June 27. The reporter recently walked into the Tianfu International Airport for a field visit, and saw that the Waiting Area, Arrival Corridor, Check-in Hall were scattered with public art works and everywhere was full of literary atmosphere. “Nearly half of the art works are from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute,” said Wang Guanyi from the Construction Headquarters of Chengdu Tianfu International Airport.
Created by Jiao Xingtao, Vice President of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, it is 15 meters long, 11 meters wide and 12 meters high. The “hair” of its whole body is composed of 16,000 stainless steel forging pieces. When the breeze comes, the stainless steel forgings will rise and fall in the wind, and its eyes will keep turning. Each stainless steel forging piece is inlaid with LED lights. At night, tens of thousands of LED lights will light up its body, and it will become colorful and move under the lights.
Just stepping into the departure hall of T1, the reporter saw a group of wall relief murals that skillfully integrated Sichuan Opera, Shu Embroidery and other intangible cultural heritage items.
The reporter learned that these art works were created by Zhang Jie who is the Vice President of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and other artists. “In order to create something closer to life, I specially spent a week in Jinli, Qingcheng Mountain and other places with characteristics of Bashu.” said Li Jing, Teacher of the Public Art School of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute.
In the Arrival Corridor at Terminal T1 of the Airport, there are 16 large murals which are fascinating. Three-dimensional “Sanxingdui”, exquisite “Jiuzhaigou”... When passengers arrive at the Airport, they can learn about the culture of Bashu in one scene at a time. These works are all designed and created by a team led by Professor Zhang Jie, Vice President of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. The creative team consists of Huang Yue, Yu Yi, Zhou Bo, Li Jing, etc., and there are more than ten participating artists.
Let’s take “Jinsha Yiyun“ as an example. It combines two-dimensional composition and three-dimensional mosaic with a variety of techniques and means to show the brilliant historical civilization of Sichuan." Zhang Jie said that in order to better lead people into history and build a bridge of exploration between the audience and the picture, they also invited experts of literature and history to create all the murals together.
Zhang Jie, Vice President of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, said that the participation in the artistic creation inside and outside Tianfu Airport Terminal was due to the initiative of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute to communicate with the Construction Headquarters at that time and successively sent more than 10 artists to the scene and they took nearly a year to create. “We hope to contribute to promoting cultural and artistic exchanges between the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle by this way.”
