BEIJING, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Red Cross organizations in China and a number of charity foundations are moving fast to help people affected by floods in central China's Henan Province.

The Red Cross Society of China has activated its emergency response protocol, channeling disaster-relief resources to the affected region and sending teams on-site to help local Red Cross organizations.

The Chinese Red Cross Foundation (CRCF) has donated 5,000 disaster-relief family packages to Henan, each of which contains materials that could sustain a family of five for a week.

In addition, the China Siyuan Foundation for Poverty Alleviation announced on Wednesday that an early-stage donation, which includes funds and materials worth more than 11 million yuan (about 1.7 million U.S. dollars), has been made to help with the rescue operations and post-disaster reconstruction.
