CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recently, Chongqing Wulipo (Hubei Shennongjia World Natural Heritage Boundary Adjustment Project) formally passed the deliberations to become a World Natural Heritage Site at the 44th Session of the World Heritage Committee in Fuzhou, Fujian, China, and is the third World Natural Heritage Site in Chongqing after Wulong and Jinfo Mountain.

In June 2013, Wulipo was approved by the State Council as a National Nature Reserve. The topography of Wulipo is complex, with gullies and ravines, undulating hills and a wide range of altitudes, ranging from 170 to 2680 meters above sea level, as well as marked vertical changes in climate. The vegetation also shows significant vertical variation depending on altitude, with vegetation types divided into five vegetation type groups, seven vegetation types and 59 groupings. There are 3,000 hectares of virgin forest, 300 hectares of native subalpine meadows and 26.6 hectares of Ametotaxus argotaenia community. A total of 3,001 species of vascular plants have been discovered, with 16 species of Class I and 64 species of Class II wild plants under national priority protection; 447 species of terrestrial vertebrates have been discovered, with 17 species of Class I and 63 species of Class II wild animals under national priority protection.
