CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- “Sign language is taught when flowers are sold.” Recently, a special “Silent Flower House” in Three Gorges Square, Shapingba District, has attracted the attention of passers-by.

It is learned that the Silent Flower House was initiated by Chongqing University’s “Yituanhuo Welfare Team” to provide a platform for people with hearing impairment to explore career development opportunities. After learning about the Flower House, seven hearing impaired students from Chongqing Normal University signed up to be the first operators of it. They are personally involved in everything from product selection, design and packaging to on-site sales, and are affectionately known as “Little Red Flowers”. Customers who purchase flowers can learn a sign language to express their silent love or blessings from the “Little Red Flowers”. The Silent Flower House is also launching an “Online Cloud Flower” donation campaign. Donors will receive a customized sign language video recorded by a “Little Red Flower” to send a special message to a special person.

It is also worth mentioning that the materials used to make the bouquets are provided by “Yituanhuo Team”, and all proceeds from the sale of flowers and online donations will go to the “Little Red Flowers”.

It is understood that Chongqing University’s “Yituanhuo Welfare Team” is a public welfare team dedicated to providing employment support for the visually impaired, hearing impaired and other special groups, and the Silent Flower House is a new attempt to explore ways to help them. Zhou Meijun, the initiator of the event, introduced, “Not only do we sell flowers, but in the future we will also design flowers, combining hearing impaired university students and our professional skills to add sound painting design and create a professional, branded silent flower house.” The Silent Flower House will be based in and around Chongqing, spreading the culture of sign language and drawing more attention to special groups while providing assistance to the hearing impaired.
