Jordan, Turkey approve economic cooperation agreement

AMMAN, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Jordan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi said Tuesday that Jordan and Turkey approved of an agreement to boost economic cooperation.

He made the remarks in Amman following a meeting with his visiting Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu.

Safadi said specialists from the two countries' ministries of foreign affairs, as well as relevant ministries, would build up a road map to identify priorities for future economic cooperation as part of the agreement, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He stated that there is economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries, as well as cooperation in the field of education and combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

Safadi also affirmed Jordan's solidarity with Turkey in facing the wildfires.

The two sides also discussed regional issues, including developments in Palestine, Syria and Afghanistan.

Cavusoglu emphasized Turkey's appreciation for the role Jordan plays as an important element of stability in the region.

He explained that the meeting with Safadi touched on the steps to be followed regarding bilateral relations, noting that the two countries would work to create a balance in trade. Enditem
