CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- So far, 185 entrances and exits of rail transit stations have been installed with canopies, and the remaining 10 canopies are scheduled to be completed within the year to further bring a convenient experience to the public.
Whenever it rains, the escalator handrails and stairs outside the stations become slippery and the operation of the equipment is affected by prolonged exposure to rain. Prior to the installation of the canopies, the outdoor escalators were suspended in rainy weather to prevent passengers from falling.
After a thorough study and on-site survey, Chongqing Rail Transit Group decided to install canopies at 195 eligible station entrances and exits on the lines already in operation.
The design of the canopies differs depending on the location of the underground and elevated stations. The canopies for the underground stations adopt a “panoramic double-laminated glass + light steel keel” structure, with a transparent and beautiful outline and LED lighting inside, full of a sense of technology and design; the canopies for the elevated stations cover the entire escalator, like a huge umbrella, sheltering passengers from the wind and rain.
With the addition of the canopies, the outdoor escalators can be operated normally in rainy weather, which not only improves the speed of passenger access, but also increases the reliability of the escalator equipment. Also, some underground stations have station information posted on the canopy glass for passengers to quickly get to their destination.
At present, there are 4 entrances and exits under construction, namely, Entrance/Exit 1 of Shijingpo Station, Entrance/Exit 1 of Daxuecheng Station, Entrance/Exit 1 of Dazhulin Station and Entrance/Exit 2 of Jiuquhe Station.
In the future, Chongqing Rail Transit Group will speed up the construction progress of the canopies and strive to put them into service as soon as possible. (Translated by Wang Huixin, Fathom Language Limited)
