The reporter learned from Ctrip.com that inter-provincial tours are making an orderly recovery this year in the run-up to Mid-Autumn, with a steady rise in travel registrations. Among them, the number of inter-provincial orders booked on September 6 increased by 356% compared to August 20. Chongqing ranked among the top 10 most popular destinations.

Many places such as Shanghai, Hubei, Henan, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Shandong, Sichuan, Inner Mongolia and Hainan have recently issued notices to resume inter-provincial group tours and “air ticket + hotel” operations as the epidemic prevention and control situation has improved. Data shows that as of September 6, the top 10 most popular destinations for the Mid-Autumn Festival are Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Sanya, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Zhuhai and Wuhan.

Fang Zexi, an industry analyst at Ctrip Research Institute, said the domestic tourism market had shown signs of recovery in mid-to-late August. By monitoring recent data on long-distance tourism orders, she found that in provinces and cities where inter-provincial tours are open, there is a consistent and significant growth trend in bookings for short-term tourism products.

Chongqing, for example, has recently seen a rapid rise in business for group tours. In particular, the number of orders for inter-provincial group tours rose 315% on September 6 compared to the same period last week. The top five sources of inter-provincial tourists in Chongqing were Shanghai, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Guangzhou and Changsha. In the past month, the top 5 destinations for tourists from Chongqing are Sanya, Aba, Beijing, Chengdu and Daocheng.

So far, the top 10 popular scenic spots for the Mid-Autumn Festival in Chongqing are Wulong Tiansheng Sanqiao, Chongqing Happy Valley, Yangtze River Cableway, Hongyadong Folk Style Area, Chongqing Sunac Land, Ciqikou Ancient Town, Chongqing Jianchuan Haijiang Museum (Ship 166), Dream Ordovician, Chongqing Sunac Ocean Park and Gongtan Ancient Town.

According to Fang Zexi, the current recovery trend is expected to usher in a new inflection point for the recovery of inter-provincial tours again at the Mid-Autumn Festival, and strong growth in inter-provincial tours is expected by the National Day Golden Week period.
