The biggest flood peak of 2021 passes through the main districts of Chongqing

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The water level of Jialing River and Yangtze River in the main urban districts of Chongqing continued to rise as a result of a new round of heavy rainfall. According to Chongqing Municipal Water Resources Bureau, the flood has passed through the Yangtze River Cuntan Station and continues to converge downwards into the Three Gorges Reservoir Area. This means that the current round of flooding has passed through the main urban districts of Chongqing.

Specifically, the Yangtze River Cuntan Station in Jiangbei District saw a flood level of 181.66 meters (Wusong elevation) at 13:45 on September 7, with a corresponding flow of 46,700 cubic meters per second, exceeding the warning level (180.50 meters) by 1.16 meters and below the guaranteed level (183.50 meters) by 1.84 meters.

The Jiangling River Ciqikou Station in Shapingba District saw a flood level of 185.77 meters (Wusong elevation) at 11:00 on September 7, exceeding the guaranteed level (185.64 meters) by 0.13 meters.

The Jiangling River Beibei (No. 3) Station in Beibei District saw a highest flood level of 194.19 meters (elevation of the Huanghai Sea) at 8:30 on September 7, with a corresponding flow of 26,600 cubic meters per second, below the warning level (194.50 meters) by 0.31 meters.

The Jialing River Dongjintuo Station in Hechuan District saw a flood level of 206.92 meters (Wusong elevation) at 3:00 on September 7, exceeding the warning level (206.50 meters) by 0.42 meters and below the guaranteed level (208.50 meters) by 1.58 meters.

On September 6, the No. 1 Flood of Yangtze River in 2021 was formed on the Yangtze River and the No. 2 of Jialing River Flood in 2021 on the Jialing River due to heavy rainfall upstream, ushering in the largest flood in Chongqing’s major rivers since the start of the flood period this year.
