2021-09-10 10:21:33

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- A group of men riding the waves on the water were taking part in 2021 Chongqing Youth Worker Skills of Water Emergency Rescue Competition.

The competition took place in Hechuan, Chongqing, where the three rivers converge, and there was a huge “arena” for water rescue where dive boat rescue and diving and salvage events were held.

More than 150 players from 15 teams came from main urban districts, Wanzhou, Fuling, Pengshui and Fengjie in Chongqing to present their skills.

The orange and red object, called Water Smart Lifesaver, was used in the competition for the first time this year. It can approach a person in the water at a speed of 6.5 meters per second and also has functions such as search at nights and real-time graphical transmission.

Those who fall into the water grab it to get out of danger, and rescuers save those in distress by remotely towing them. As smart water emergency equipment, the lifesaver has been equipped to six emergency rescue bases and eight rescue stations in Chongqing, greatly improving the success rate of rescue in complex water environments.

Li Hongke (in sunglasses) is a rescuer in Linjiangmen Human Life Rescue Station and has rescued more than 20 people from falling into the water during his 11-year career. He has participated in such competitions for four consecutive years and said that the competition promotes training and improves his emergency rescue skills greatly.

The directional throw of a lifebuoy may look simple, but to throw it far and accurately is the result of numerous trainings. Every throw of a lifebuoy is often a question of whether a life can be saved.

Chongqing Harbor Navigation Administration has established 14 emergency response teams, which are on 24-hour standby, strengthening daily training and insisting on “daily training, monthly practices and annual drills”. They are responsible for maritime cruising, waterway maintenance and emergency rescue.

Since the construction of local water emergency system in Chongqing, it has basically achieved the goal of “13815”, namely, 1 minute to gather, 3 minutes to dispatch fast rescue equipment, 8 minutes to dispatch light and fast equipment, and 15 minutes to dispatch heavy equipment.

Since the construction of local water emergency system in Chongqing, it has successfully dealt with 758 dangerous situations, rescued 204 vessels, rescued 1,548 people and recovered economic losses of 460 million yuan, giving full play to the role of the “base line” for emergency rescue.
