CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In recent years, Chongqing has accelerated the integration of the “four networks” - mainline railways, intercity railways, municipal railways and urban rail transits - to create a “metropolitan area on the rail”. The reporter learned from Chongqing City Transportation Development & Investment Group Co., Ltd. that recently, new developments have been made on the Northern Extension of Line 5, Phase II of Line 4 and Line 9, and the construction of rail transit in Chongqing is accelerating.

Jiangtiao Line: Successfully completed construction by swing of the overpass above the Chongqing-Guiyang Railway

At 1:55 a.m. on August 28, the construction by swing of the overpass above the Chongqing-Guiyang Railway on the suburban railway (rail transit extension) was successfully completed after 150 minutes of work, laying a solid foundation for the operation of the whole line and setting a new record for the construction by swing of the overpass rail with the minimum radius of curve in Chongqing. 

It is understood that Jiangtiao Line starts at Tiaodeng Station (not included) of Rail Transit Line 5 and ends at Shengquansi Station in Jiangjin District, with a total length of about 28.22 kilometers, and it will link up the areas of Jiangjin, Jiulongpo and Dadukou and can operate with Line 5 when it opens.

Chongqing-Hechan Railway: Moxinpo Tunnel successfully completed on August 28

At 11:20 on August 28, the Moxinpo Tunnel of the Phase I of the New Suburban Moxinpo to Hechuan Railway Project (“Phase I of Chongqing-Hechuan Railway Project”), which was under the construction and management of Chongqing City Transportation Development & Investment Group Co., Ltd., was successfully completed. Located in Dongyang Sub-district, Beibei District, the 235-meter-long Tunnel, with a maximum depth of 21 meters, is one of the important control projects of the Phase I of Chongqing-Hechuan Railway Project.

It is learned that Phase I of Chongqing-Hechuan Railway Project is connected to the track at Weituo Station of Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway at its northern end, and its southern end is connected to the track at the north connection field of Moxinpo of the Xiangyang-Chongqing Railway, with a main line length of 40.657 kilometers and a cumulative length of approximately 18.334 kilometers of associated connecting lines.

Northern Extension of Line 5: Left-line tunnel of the longest interval tunnel completed

Following the completion of the dual-line tunnel between Yuhegou- and the tunnel in the throat area of the Shizishan car park, the longest tunnel in the Northern Extension of Rail Transit Line 5, the left-line tunnel between Expo Garden Center Station and Yuhegou Station, has recently been successfully completed, laying the foundation for the “tunnel passage” of the entire line.

The Northern Extension of Line 5 is 8.64 kilometers in length, starting at the Garden Expo Center Station of the Phase I of Line 5 and ending at the Yuegang North Road Station, with seven underground stations and a Shizishan car park at the end.

Phase II of Line 4: Full track laying stage

Recently, the Phase II of Rail Transit Line 4, located at the Guoyuan Port National Logistics Hub, has entered full track laying stage.

Phase II of Chongqing Rail Transit Line 4 starts at Tangjiatuo Station and ends at Shichuan Station, with a total length of 32.8 kilometers and is expected to be opened to traffic in 2022. The Line has 15 stations (including one new station), of which the stations at Ganbazi, Fuhong Avenue, Yuzui and Yumiao Road are located within the Guoyuan Port National Logistics Hub.

Line 9: Electricity available for the whole line

Recently, the overhead contact network of the whole line of the Phase I Project of Chongqing Rail Transit Line 9 was officially electrically connected. Phase I of Line 9 starts at Xinqiao in Shapingba District and ends at Xingke Avenue in Yubei District, connecting Shapingba District, Yuzhong District, Jiangbei District, Yubei District and Liangjiang New Area, with a total line length of about 32.3 kilometers and a total of 26 stations.

Phase I of Line 18: Rapid construction stage for the whole line with TBM

Recently, at the construction site of Chongqing Olympic Sports Center Station on Chongqing Rail Transit Line 18, the first TBM for the entire line was successfully launched as the giant “Hongyan No. 1” TBM cutter head began to turn and dig, marking the official entry of the project into the rapid construction stage with TBM. Phase I of Line 18 is approximately 29 kilometers long, starting at Fuhua Road Station in Yuzhong District and ending at Tiaodeng South Station in Dadukou District.
