CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Mixing mortar, measuring walls, grinding corners, square inches, precision control within millimeters … Recently, a construction skills competition was held in Chongqing Longxing Football Stadium project. Workers competed in several aspects around the construction content, from measurement, tile veneer, to mechanical and electrical installation.

At the site of the tiling competition, the contestants were busy cutting tiles. According to the requirements of the competition, in 6 hours, the contestants have to complete 4 groups of patterns of tiling, the pattern includes the Chinese characters, numbers, letters and soccer graphics.

She Huanhuan, quality director of Chongqing Longxing Soccer Stadium project of China Construction Eighth Engineering Division, introduced that each graphic has a precise size. Taking the soccer pattern as an example, the tiles need to be cut out of the spherical arc first, and the word “Long” （龙）of Longxing（龙兴）, a tile also needs to be cut several times. Tile veneer flatness, verticality, horizontality are scoring points, “the gap between the tiles cannot exceed 1 mm.”

In the Jiangbei International Airport T3B terminal project, a skill competition was held at the same time, in which contestants conducted tests for cement dose and concrete compressive strength in cement-stabilized fine-grained soil.

Liu Yonghui, Deputy Manager of Technical Quality Department of Southwest Company of China Construction Eighth Engineering Division, introduced that China Construction Eighth Engineering Division has constructed many projects in Chongqing, such as Longxing Football Stadium, T3B Terminal of Jiangbei International Airport and Datianwan Stadium. In order to continuously improve the skill level of operators, they organized workers and managers of the above-mentioned projects and other projects to participate in this competition to promote skills and better serve the project construction.

Taking Chongqing Longxing Football Stadium project as an example, it has entered the metal roofing and decoration, electromechanical installation stage, and will soon enter the construction stage of outdoor general apron works and so on. Through this competition, it will further improve the skill level of operators and provide guarantee for more efficient and high-quality construction in the future.
