CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The reporter learned from Chongqing Housing and Urban-Rural Development Commission that on September 27, the 18th Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize was officially awarded to Phase I Project of Chongqing Rail Transit Line 10.

The Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize is one of the national construction system engineering award projects recognized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People’s Republic of China, the first batch of science and technology award projects approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, and the highest honorary award for scientific and technological innovation in engineering construction projects in the field of civil engineering in China.

The Phase I Project of Chongqing Rail Transit Line 10 is 33.42km long, of which the underground section is 27.04km long, with 19 stations. The line starts from Jianxin East Road by the Jialing River, passes through the urban core areas of Guanyinqiao Group, Konggang Group and Yuelai Group, and ends at Wangjiazhuang under Danjiashan. CRT Line 10 is the main backbone line of the rail network in Chongqing, linking the South and North Squares of the North Railway Station and the T2 and T3 terminals of the Jiangbei International Airport, among other important transport hubs.

Construction of Phase I Project of Chongqing Rail Transit Line 10 began in May 2014 and took three years to complete, with trial operations starting in February 2018. In particular, the project is the first in China to develop and use new urban As mountain trains with strong climbing ability, good passing ability in small curves and large capacity, which further improves passenger capacity and ensures operational safety and passenger comfort on large longitudinal slopes and small curved lines, in response to the special topographical conditions of Chongqing.

In addition, seven stations, including Liyuchi Station, Hongtudi Station, South Square Station of Chongqing North Railway Station, T2 Terminal Station, Yubei Square Station, Central Park East Station and Central Park Station, are designed as oversized cross-sectional concealed excavation stations and are the control works of the whole line. Hongtudi Station is 95 meters deep and requires six escalator rides to reach the surface. The two lines of stations have a total of 89 escalators, forming a super escalator complex that is rare in China.

According to the General Station for Quality of Chongqing Housing and Urban-Rural Development Commission, in view of the complexity and importance of the Phase I Project of Chongqing Rail Transit Line 10, the General Station has taken the initiative to serve the enterprise, increase the supervision and frequency and innovate the supervision mode. Through the joint efforts of the quality supervision departments and the participating entities, the project was well controlled in terms of quality and was eventually awarded the China Construction Engineering Luban Prize (National Prime-quality Project) and the Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize.
