Salute to the people working at the quarantine site who can’t go home

2021-11-22 11:50:21

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- A quarantine site in Shapingba District, Chongqing, received more than 300 individuals in more than 20 days. As of November 16, there were 5 remaining individuals at the quarantine site. Fourteen medical staff sent batches of patients back home, but they became the “people who can’t go home”.

His name is He Changhua, 56 years old, and he is the head of a quarantine site in Shapingba District. He is a gentle man who always smiles at people. This is his third time working at the quarantine site and he hasn’t returned home since October 22.

This is Ma Yinfeng (left), 25 years old. She is a medical staff member at this quarantine site. It was her birthday on the day we shot this photo, but she preferred to lay low and changed into her protective clothing as usual.

This quarantine site in Shapingba Disrtict is one of the busiest sites in Chongqing in the current round of the epidemic. In 20 days, more than 300 people have been asked to stay here. He Changhua (right) and Ma Yinfeng (left) worked side by side here.

At 8:00 a.m., the first task at the site was to bring breakfast to the patients. Although Ma Yinfeng (left) is thin, she can run all the way to carry breakfast every day. “Even though she’s young, she’s the backbone here, very powerful!” This is what her colleagues said about her.

“Sir, are you up yet? It’s breakfast time!” As soon as the clear voice of the Chongqing girl rang out in the hallway, the people at the site knew that the hot breakfast arrived!

At 9:00 a.m., after the breakfast delivery, they would prepare for the nucleic acid tests. They must be meticulous enough to carry out this task.

“Victory is at hand, and you can go home after your test shows negative result this time.” While taking a break from doing tests, He Changhua (far left) did not forget to care for patients’ feelings. “The people who are quarantined here are cooperative. They know how much efforts we made, and they know we can’t go home.”

At 9.30 a.m., He Changhua and Ma Yinfeng worked together to collect the waste of the patients. “The bin is at least 40 to 50 jin, and it is a real struggle for a girl in her 20s to carry it.” He Changhua is very sympathetic to the young colleague.

At 10:00 a.m., the medical staff would disinfect the quarantine area. There were three floors and they needed to move forward little by little, and cover every corner of the site.

At 11:00 a.m., they entered a special room where a confirmed case of the current round of the epidemic in Chongqing had stayed. He Changhua (left) and Ma Yinfeng (right) were testing the environment, which had previously tested negative. “There is a confirmed case here. Are you scared then?” the reporter asked. “It’s a lie when I say I’m not scared, but we have to win the battle. We can’t retreat!” Ma Yinfeng answered.

“Congratulations on your release from quarantine!” This is what the quarantined individuals most looking forward to hearing. After signing the Notice of Release from Intensive Medical Observation, they can leave.

Wave goodbye. “You still need to be properly protected from the virus when you get home!” He Changhua (far right) urged the young man who was about to leave. The young man responded, “Thank you for so many days of hard work!” Looking at the young man’s back, He Changhua said to his colleagues who expressed homesickness, “We will soon be able to go home as well!”

“Not surprisingly, all quarantined people will be able to go home on November 19! We will stay for 7 more days for observation and will be able to go home on November 26.” When He Changhua spoke, his colleagues applauded excitedly; they hadn’t been home for more than 20 days. “I’m going home to kiss my two little babies!” “I’m going home to look after my sick mum!” “First thing home is a hot pot!” The 14 medical staff mnembers at the quarantine site expressed their feelings. The “people who can’t go home” are also looking forward to going home soon! (Translated by Wang Huixin, Fathom Language Limited)
