Recently, Chongqing Morning Post learned from Chongqing Railway Investment Group that Chongqing East Railway Station is expected to complete the track foundation pit earthwork by the end of December, so as to ensure seamless connection between various transportation modes and the railway and realize “zero transfer”.

Appearance designed with ficus virens

The construction site of Chongqing East Railway Station in Chayuan New Area, Nan’an District, was busy a few days ago.

Zhao Fei, the person in charge of the construction side of Chongqing East Railway Station of China Railway First Group Co., Ltd., introduced that Chongqing East Railway Station is 2.89 kilometers long, extending from Gonghe Village, Changshengqiao Town in the west to Nanshan Village in the east. “Currently, what’s under construction is the station core area which is expected to complete the roadbed earthwork in the station core area by the end of November,” Zhao Fei said. The next step is to dig the track foundation pit.

It is worth mentioning that in order to maximize the integration into the urban landscape, Chongqing East Railway Station incorporates ficus virens in the appearance design, and the station house is themed on “Mountains, Rivers and ficus virens”.

Seamless transfer

It is expected to be completed in 2025

Chongqing East Railway Station is horizontally arranged into three yards, respectively Chongqing-Hunan Yard, Chongqing-Wanzhou Yard and East Ring Yard from the west to the east, with a total size of 15 sets on 29 lines.

The main project of the station house and supporting comprehensive transportation hub has 8 floors, including 3 floors above the station overpass, which are platform floor, elevated waiting floor and travel service floor; and 5 floors under the overpass, which are the exit and rapid entry floor, urban corridor comprehensive transfer floor, rail transit station hall transfer floor, platform floor of CRT Line 8 and 24, and platform floor of CRT Line 6 and 27. Chongqing East Railway Station also equips with railway stations and 4 urban rail transit lines, bus, long-distance, taxi, tourist bus, social car parking area, online car booking, car sharing, passenger service and other supporting facilities. Finally, the comprehensive transportation hub system of Chongqing East Railway Station is formed, creating a seamless transfer system.

After getting out of the station, the furthest walking distance to transfer to rail transit is about 160 meters, 200 meters to transfer to taxi, and 150 meters to transfer to city bus and long-distance bus. The passengers can basically transfer from the center to all kinds of transportation modes within 5 minutes.

In the future, Chongqing East Railway Station will be responsible for the operation of four main high-speed railway routes including Beijing-Kunming, Baotou-Haikou, Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu and Xiamen-Chongqing high-speed railways, five high-speed railways including Chongqing-Hunan, Chengdu-Chongqing, Chongqing-Wanzhou, Chongqing-Kunming and Chongqing-Guizhou, as well as two ordinary speed railways including East Ring and Chongqing-Huaihua Railway.
