CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- A video of a Chongqing professor recording the path of sunlight on the blackboard during class became popular online. Many of more than 2,000 comments said that the teacher’s behavior was “very romantic”.

What did the teacher do? The reporter interviewed Yang Bai, a professor at the Art and Media School of Chongqing Metropolitan College of Science and Technology.

“I was teaching students the Basics of Two-dimensional Composition Design.” Yang Bai said that it was about 17:00. After the lecture, he left some time for students to practice. Just as the sunlight setting on the blackboard, he came up with the idea of using the trace of light to give students an example of linear formation.

Yang told the reporter that the whole process may have lasted about five minutes as he explained while drawing, which was filmed by some students. “I want to convey to students the idea that art is around you, maybe sunshine or breeze. You should learn to record and express with artistic methods,” he said.

“I graduated from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and came to Chongqing Metropolitan College of Science and Technology last year. When I was in the institute, my professor gave some examples close to life so that we could better understand the knowledge on books. I want to pass it on to my students.” For this unexpected popularity, Yang Bai said that art comes from life, but it is higher than life, and he hoped everyone has the enthusiasm to discover art and observe life. As a netizen commented, “rational flowers must blossom in the soil of romance, and we must live passionately in this ordinary world.” (Translated by Liu Hongyan, Fathom Language Limited)
