Domestic drama "Embrace Again" still leads Chinese box office
BEIJING, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Domestic drama movie "Embrace Again" on Wednesday still topped the Chinese mainland box office chart, data from the China Movie Data Information Network showed Thursday.
The film revolves around stories of a group of ordinary people during the COVID-19 lockdown in Wuhan, spotlighting their mutual support at the trying times in early 2020.
Directed by Xue Xiaolu and starring Huang Bo and Jia Ling, the film generated 11.05 million yuan (around 1.7 million U.S. dollars) on Wednesday. Its total box office has reached 755 million yuan so far.
"G Storm," the fifth installment of a crime thriller franchise, came in second, raking in 8.23 million yuan on Wednesday.
It was followed by domestic comedy movie "Another Me," which earned about 7.2 million yuan on its 12th day of release.
