CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The curved skyscrapers are like sails setting, and “Sailing Towards the Sky” attracts visitors from all over the country to take pictures. Recently, the premiere of the documentary “A City Sets Sail” was held in Chongqing Raffles City. The film was shot over five years, recording the transformation of the Chaotianmen business district and restoring the challenging process of the construction of Chongqing Raffles City.

“Designing Chongqing Raffles City is the largest and most difficult construction project in my career.” Moses Safdie introduced that after learning that Chaotianmen is an important shipping port, he decided to design and build a group of buildings with sailboats as the prototype, consisting of eight towers and a “horizontal skyscraper” with views in the air -- six of which are connected by crystal corridors to form a “sail” for the whole city.
According to Luo Fei, the director of “A City Sets Sail”, the film has accumulated more than 300 hours of footage, focusing on a number of issues of concern during the construction process, for example, through the “horizontal skyscraper” crystal corridor suddenly encountered an alarm in the process of rising the roof; how to solve the problem by the construction participants, to show the completion process of this 12,000-ton building; when the flood peak crosses the Chongqing, there are small “accidents” in the buildings with flood walls built in advance to show the test of the flood to the buildings.
