2022-02-23 14:19:59

LAGOS, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Nigerian government has developed 17 national policies to deepen the nation's digital economy, a top official said here Tuesday.

Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Isa Pantami made the remarks at a breakfast session with startup digital innovation stakeholders.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the draft policies, which will be submitted to the National Assembly for approval.

"We are prepared to swing into action to lobby and do everything possible to have the National Assembly pass the bills on the policies into law," Pantami said.

He added the national policies are "deliberate steps to consolidate the country's digital economy."

Pantami reiterated the willingness of the government to provide an enabling environment and fiscal incentives for tech startups to operate successfully in the country.
