It’s “Soviet style”, not “Su Shi style”
CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The walls are scarlet red, the tiles are bluish, and the colorful flowers on the stone platform are contrasted with the weathered moss...... Recently, six red buildings, which are situated in an old community in Shapingba District, Chongqing, suddenly became so popular that attracted many tourists to check in and take pictures.
In Tuanjieba Community of Shijingpo Street in Shapingba District, the reporter saw these buildings with more than 70 years of history. The whole set embraces six buildings with a total of 24 households, and in light of the unique topography of Chongqing, the mountain city, each building is constructed on its own foundation. Seeing them climb up floor by floor, with green bricks and blue tiles, visitors cannot help but exclaim, what a wonderful scene!
It is understood that these buildings are the expert buildings built by the Southwest Military Control Commission in 1952, mainly provided for the engineers, technicians and senior executives working in the former special steel companies. Due to their reference to the Soviet-style architecture, they are called "Soviet-style buildings", but the locals also call them expert buildings.
Initially, the “Soviet-style buildings” were made of mud walls, wooden flooring and wooden stairs, but gradually fell into decay and lost the former glory for the years of disrepair. However, after the old neighborhoods in Tuanjieba Community started to transform, the “Soviet-style buildings” also experienced a “facelift” and rejuvenated in 2019.
