Wuxi: Davidia involucrata blossoms and dances in the wind
CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In the past few days, Davidia involucrata, a national first-class protected plant located in Yintiaoling National Nature Reserve, Chongqing, has blossomed like a flock of pigeons, which is spectacular.
The petals of Davidia involucrata are shaped like the wings of a white pigeon, and the inflorescence is like the head of a white pigeon. Generally, two or three flowers are hung on a branch, like a flock of pigeons gathering to inhabit the branch. They are white and elegant, and the breeze is blowing slowly through the forest, and the flowers on the branch are swaying with the wind, just as the white pigeon flapping its wings and dancing. Looking around, Davidia involucrata trees are lush, and "white pigeons" are flying from the crown of more than 20 meters high.
Davidia involucrata is known as "Living fossil of plants", "Green giant panda" and also "Chinese pigeon tree". Davidia involucrata is generally distributed in the wet evergreen broad-leaved and deciduous broad-leaved mixed forest at an altitude of 1,500-2,200 meters, mostly in the humid air, and prefers neutral or slightly acidic humus deep soil.
