CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- A wild monkey "visited" Southwest University and attracted the attention of the teachers and students. This was the second time this year that wild monkeys visited the the university.

On March 18 this year, a monkey appeared in the back mountain of the university, had fun on a bounding wall, and sat leisurely in the grass to enjoy the food given by the students.

Sun Yawang, a senior experimenter at the College of Animal Science and Technology of Southwest University analyzed the video and suggested that the monkey who visited the campus twice is probably the same one. "It is very likely that the monkey was defeated in the battle with the monkey king and was kicked out from the tribe. So he came to our campus that was with a large flow of people to seek food and comfort," said Sun. Judging from his body shape and appearance in the video, the monkey might be a normal macaque, but was also a national second-class protected animal. However, it was also possible that he separated himself from his tribe and acted alone because he was injured or disabled.

Sun said: "On the one hand, macaques are omnivorous animals. When it is difficult for them to find food, they will seek feeding in places with a large flow of people. On the other hand, they have few natural enemies and are not afraid of humans, so they are willing to accept the food given by humans."

It is not easy to catch the wild monkey because he is rather flexible. The security office of Southwest University suggested that they would report what happened to the local forestry department later. If he shows up on the campus again, the department will trap him in a proper situation. He will be released back to the forest, returning to nature where he belongs to.
