CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Late May is precisely the time for picking blueberries. In Fuhuan Town, Qijiang District of Chongqing, 400 mu of blueberries are successively entering the maturation period. On weekends, people seize the chance to pick and taste them.

In the blueberry park of Anyu Village, Fuhuan Town, Qijiang District, clusters of blueberries hang on the branches, many of which have turned bluish violet. The principal of the park told the reporter from Chongqing Evening News: “Our industrial park covers an area of over 500 mu, among which more than 400 mu of blueberries are available for picking.” The park boasts varieties of blueberries, including both early-ripe and late-ripe ones that are available for picking. Due to the difference in their maturation periods, the picking period is rather long and lasts until October. In addition to blueberries, there are also other fruits in the park, such as Brown plum. Therefore, people can go to the park and pick various fruits in different seasons.

The principal told the reporter: “This weekend, nearly 1,000 people came to our park. Most of them were middle-aged and senior people that came in groups.” In the peak season, the park is in need of more than 200 workers, thus adding more jobs for the people living in the 6 villages near the park. The park is currently promoting the integrative development of tertiary industry, covering the business of blueberry planting, deep processing of by-products and the like. All these propel the development of the local industries. People can drive for 40 minutes from the downtown areas of Qijiang District to the park, and drive for 1 hour from the Banan toll station to the park. Recently the 2022 Qijiang Fuhuan Blueberry Picking Festival has been held, attracting a great number of visitors. The first blueberry pick festival kicked off in 2017 and the festival received tens of thousands of people every year, which means, the festival has become a hot event that people drive to the park and pick blueberries. In addition to the blueberry picking, people can choose to live in farmhouses here, enjoying idyllic scenery. Furthermore, people can go traveling the local scenic spots including the terraced spots in Chaqi Village, ancient bridges and Chongen Temple. At the festival, you can indeed enjoy a great holiday.
