Recently, the reporter went to Caijiasi Village, Jiangjia Town, Banan District of Chongqing and paid a visit to a plum garden of Huaguo Mountain. 300 mu of Meigui plums planted there had turned ripe and entered the best picking period.

When entering the garden, the reporter saw a sea of plum trees. Clusters of scarlet plums hung on the branches, sending forth mild fragrance around the hill. It was nice weather that day, so fruit farmers were busy picking plums.

“The Meigui plum is early-maturing. The fruit starts to turn red in the middle of May and now it is the good time for picking. Therefore, people can seize the time to having picking plums. This genre of plum smells like rose and has a tender taste of sour and sweet.” According to Zhou Yuan, a principal of the garden, as a result of the weather this year, the production will be decreased and is expected to reap about 30000 jin of plums.
