Chongqing Sports Museum receiving over 20 pieces of collections

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recently, the Chongqing Sports Museum held the second donation activity for the collection of cultural relics and exhibits. Chongqing Marathon Sports Development Company Limited has donated a full set of medals from 2011 to the present, as well as some of the T-shirts and number bibs, totalling more than 20 pieces of collections.

It is understood that Chongqing Marathon Company has donated a total of 13 medals from the first marathon held in 2011 to the Chongqing Run The Track Race and the Changjiahui Half Marathon in 2021. These medals are designed from Chongqing's landscape resources, reflecting the history and culture of Chongqing from the side.

For example, the 2011 medal is monochrome, with a silhouette of the Chaotianmen Bridge on the back and a floral pattern around it. The 2012 medal kept this design, with the Great Hall on the back, and this style continued until 2014.

In 2015, The Chongqing Marathon medal was designed as a rectangle, marking a bold breakthrough, with the pattern of the Great Hall on the front; while the 2020 commemorative medal was pocket watch-shaped, with the intersection of Chongqing's two rivers as the creative point on the front, on which tossing waves intertwined with ancient window panes; and on the back is the city flower of Chongqing camellia as the background, signifying the rich historical heritage of the mountain city, Chongqing.

It is reported that the 13 medals condensed the history of the development of Chongqing's marathon industry. In 2011, the first full marathon was held in Chongqing with 12,000 participants, overcoming many difficulties as the first national full marathon in the west then. It was broadcast live on CCTV for 3 hours and the first Chongqing Marathon was also rated as an outstanding event by the China Athletics Association.

In 2012, the Chongqing Marathon was upgraded to an international event. At the same time, as the London Olympic trials and national championship, it realized the integration of three competitions for the first time. In 2013, fun and happy activities such as the parent-child run were added, and 2014 was the second stop of the National Marathon Championships. In 2016, it was rated as a silver standard event by the International Association of Athletics Federations and held the Sports Industry Expo (IAAF) for the first time. 2017 saw the event awarded the Gold Label by IAAF and the Gold Label by the China Association of Athletics Federations. In 2017, it was rated as a gold event by IAAF and a gold medal event by the China Athletics Association, achieving the "double gold-medal" for the first time.
