CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- It’s understood that 12 tourist attractions in total reach standard requirements of National 5A Tourist Attraction, and are proposed to become scenic areas of National 5A Tourist Attraction. Of which, Qutang Gorge Scenic Area, Baidicheng, Fengjie County is one of them.

It is known that Qutang Gorge Scenic Area, Baidicheng is a part of the Three Gorges, and is one of the sixth batch of national key cultural relics under protection.

The scenic area is located east of Fengjie County, at the intersection of 10-km Caotang Lake and Yangtze River. Prominently located in the first gorge of the Three Gorges, north bank of Qutang Gorge, the location is a place difficult to pass surrounding by water. Due to the unique location, Baidicheng is always a strategic military access historically. Nature, culture, history and poetic flavor add radiance and beauty to each other, creating extensive and profound culture of the Three Gorges, three countries and poetic city.

8km long, Qutang Gorge is on the other side of the water of Baidicheng. Although being the shortest one in the world renowned Three Gorges, it is the most magnificent and steep one. Cliffs erecting along both banks, it looks like a door, creating the splendid scene of Kuimen.

On both banks of Qutang Gorge, the mountain ranges looks like clean cutting, and the place boasts the name of the most magnificent one. You can take a photo for only 10 Yuan. The natural scenery here will give you peerless visual experience. With sun shining on precipices, red, white, yellow and brown and rays at dawn, sunset glows at dusk and moon can enhance each other’s beauty, to form various scenes.

With long history and splendid culture, many men of letters worked and resided in Baidicheng, such as Li Bai, Du Fu, Liu Yuxi and Lu You. They wrote countless of immortal poems of universal praise, hence the name “City of Poetry”.

Currently, with completion and service of Zhengzhou-Chongqing High-speed Railway, you can only take 1.5h to get to Fengjie from downtown areas of Chongqing. Besides Fengjie has promoted series of tourism discounts. It is known that as of July 20, 2022, tourists arriving at Fengjie Station by Zhengzhou-Chongqing High-speed Railway can tour several tourist attractions for free by virtue of train ticket and ID card, including Fengjie Baidicheng, Qutang Gorge, Peak of Three Gorges, Hometown of Three Gorges, Tiankeng Stockaded Village, Longqiao River Scenic Area (excluding fees for sightseeing vehicle in scenic spots). You can take valid documentation to the ticket lobby to exchange for ticket (each person can only get one ticket).

According to the statistics of Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, Chongqing has 270 A level scenic spots in total as of December 2021, of which ten 5A, one hundred and thirty one 4A, eighty four 3A, forty four 2A and one 1A.
