CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- At 10:00 am on July 11, on the construction site of Lujiao North Station of CRT Line 24, electrician Li Yaming walked into the relaxed post. Taking off his safety helmet and reflective vest, he picked up a bowl of mung bean soup and gulped it down.

Li Yaming is mainly responsible for all the electricity management of Lujiao North Station. In summer, he drinks a bottle of Huoxiang Zhengqi Shui (a liquid herbal medicine) before going to work. Every day, he surveys the operation of more than 60 electricity boxes within the station, with a toolkit weighing about 4 kilograms on his back. A survey of an electricity box takes more than one hour, which means Li Yaming needs to walk nearly 30,000 steps in the scorching sun per day. “It is unbearably hot, so I go to the relaxed post to take a rest,” said Li Yaming satisfactorily.

According to sources, the relaxed post was set in this July by the project department of China Railway 20th Bureau Group responsible for CRT Line 24. The post is a cool room specially built for workers at the construction site who are working at high temperatures. Covering an area of about 12 square meters, the room can hold about 8 people at the same time and is equipped with air conditioning. It has a table in the middle, on which there are heatstroke preventives and cooling supplies all day long, including mung bean soup, Huoxiang Zhengqi Shui (a liquid herbal medicine), cooling oil, essential balm and Rendan mini-pills, etc. There is also a construction drawing of the site on the wall.

In addition to setting the relaxed post, the project department also informed workers of safety instructions before they commence work at high temperatures. Also, the working time was readjusted to 6∶30—10∶30 in the morning and 16∶30—22∶30 in the afternoon so that workers do not have to work during the hottest time of the day.

The first-stage project of CRT Line 24 is the main East-West line in the south central part of the city's rail transit network as well as an important public transport line of Guangyang Bay Smart Innovation Eco-City. Lujiao North Station is the starting station of the whole line, and earth excavation of the main station and support construction is in process, which will be followed by main structure construction.
