CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The reporter learned from Chongqing Transportation Development & Investment Rail Group that in the early morning of the 26th, the railway overhead contact system (OCS) of the northern extension section of Chongqing Rail Transit Line 5 was successfully powered, marking the smooth realization of "power transmission" of the line.

"Power transmission" is an important milestone of subway construction, which means that power lighting, ventilation and air conditioning, water supply and drainage, escalator and other equipment systems will gradually enter the power receiving commissioning and function realization stage, providing a strong guarantee for the subsequent on-line commissioning of trains.

There are 11 substations in the north extension section of CRT Line 5, including 9 main lines, namely, 5 traction step-down hybrid substations, 2 step-down substations, 1 follow-up step-down substation and 1 switch-yard. There is a traction step-down hybrid substation and a follow-up step-down substation in Shizishan parking lot.

The northern extension section of CRT Line 5 is north-south, mainly located in Yuelai group of Liangjiang New Area and Central Park area of Yubei District. The line starts from the starting point of CRT Line 5 phase I project and ends at Yuegangbeilu station. The total length of the line is 8.64 km. There are 7 stations, all of which are underground stations, including Yuhegou station, Ganyuedadao station, Lujiagou station, Central Park West Station, Chunxuandadao station, Yuegangdadao station, Yuegangbeilu station.

After the line is completed and opened to traffic, it will form a north-south backbone channel connecting Dadukou District, Jiulongpo District, Shapingba District, Yuzhong District, Jiangbei District, Liangjiang New District and Yubei District in series with the phase I project of CRT Line 5, so as to further alleviate the urban traffic pressure and facilitate the travel of the general public.
