CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing branch of the National Center for the Study of New Types of Crime was inaugurated on July 28th. The center will rely on the Chongqing anti fraud center to operate, and employ experts and scholars from all kinds of fields such as academic institutions, finance, communication administration, news and other sectors, as well as those from Internet Security enterprises to jointly form a new crime research team.

It is reported that with the rapid development of informatization, new crimes represented by telecommunications fraud have accelerated in recent years, showing characteristics such as "multi-industry support, industrialized distribution, collectivized operation, refined division of labor, cross-border operation". A large number of fraud gangs occupy overseas countries and regions such as northern Myanmar, and use new technologies and new business forms such as block-chain, virtual currency, artificial intelligence, etc. to iteratively upgrade criminal techniques, which forms an obstacle for the prevention and controlling of telecommunications fraud. In order to cope with this severe situation, the inter ministerial Joint Conference Office of the State Council on combating new types of crimes led the establishment of the National Center for the Study of New Types of Crime. Besides, based on the work performances, research results, development prospects, etc., 11 public security organs and communications research departments, including Chongqing Public Security Bureau, were selected to set up sub-centers across the country.
