In the future, high performance machines are going to be customized. Today we have CPUs and GPUs,  multicore CPUs and graphics processing units that are put together to accelerate our computation. In the future, we may have machines which are composed of other accelerators, maybe for machine learning, maybe for quantum computing, maybe for optical computing.
