CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- 2 cases of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been reported after a round of nucleic acid test was carried out in the downtown area of Chongqing on August 24. This indicates the necessity of nucleic acid test.

During the 118th press conference on the prevention and control of COVID-19 in Chongqing held on August 25, Li Pan, the deputy director of Chongqing Municipal Health Commission reported the news above.

2 cases of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Beibei District after a round of nucleic acid test was carried out in the downtown area of Chongqing on August 24. According to the investigation result, one of the infected patients had been to the epidemic-stricken area in Jiulongpo District, and the other was the family member living with the former patient. Both of them are cases related to “Jiulongpo Epidemic Outbreak on August 22”.

The discovery of these two infected patients fully demonstrates the necessity of nucleic acid test in the downtown areas. Test screening plays an important role in reducing the risk of transmission for it helps identify the infected patients as early as possible, Li Pan said.
