CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In the early morning of August 26, with the last steel box girder being completed, the two sections of the pedestrian bridge – the Municipal Engineering Control Project, have been successfully connected, laying a foundation for the subsequent bridge deck pavement and ancillary engineering construction. The relevant person of Chongqing Housing and Urban Rural Construction Commission said, the bridge is expected to be put into use this October.

Located in the middle gate of the Cultural Palace at Lianglukou Street, Datianwan – Cultural Palace pedestrian bridge crosses Zhongshan 3rd Road, with a total length of 125 meters and a main span of 43 meters. It is a five-span continuous steel bridge with the whole deck of 18 meters, as well as the widest steel pedestrian bridge known in China. The bridge connects the Cultural Palace and Helong Statue Square, replacing the existing C-shaped overbridge. Combining the features of a pedestrian bridge, urban landscape and a cultural corridor, the bridge will become a landmark of culture and beauty in the key area of the city after completion.

It is learned that the municipal key project of municipal engineering in Datianwan area, is an important part of the renovation and improvement of Datianwan – Cultural Palace – Auditorium area. As the first implementation project of "Yuzhong Peninsula Humanities Center", the project aims to optimize the traffic operation of the area, purify the ground traffic environment, realize the separation of pedestrians and vehicles, build up a cultural corridor, and thus promote historical heritage in the course of urban renewal.

The bridge is expected to be completed and put into use this October. After completion, it will improve the traffic environment for pedestrians in Lianglukou Street and serve as a cultural corridor for the city. (Translated by Cai Xinyu, Fathom Language Limited)
