CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On September 5, Chongqing Yintiaoling National Nature Reserve Management Center announced that in August this year, during the scientific research of Chongqing Yintiaoling Nature Reserve, researchers surprisingly discovered Lilium fargesii, a national second-class key protected wild plant with “blooming flowers”.
According to Professor Tang Anjun from School of Life Sciences of Chongqing Normal University, in Yintiaoling, Chongqing, the plant height of Lilium fargesii can reach 80cm and they grow on slopes under forests or among exposed rocks at altitude between 2100 and 2400m.
At present, resources of wild Lilium fargesii are very scarce and are in an endangered state, and have been included in the “National Key Protected Wild Plant List” (level II). According to literature records, Lilium fargesii is mainly distributed in Yunnan, Hubei, Shaanxi and Sichuan. Today, researchers have found nearly 100 Lilium fargesii plants of “Yunshang Fairy” in Zhuanping, Yintiaoling, Chongqing, which not only provided a new provenance for the study of the systematic evolution of Lilium plants, but also added new “genes” for the basic research, conservation and sustainable use.
