Xinfengzhong Road is scheduled to fully open at the end of September, while the second phase of Chongqingxi Station transportation hub is planned to open for trial operation. At that time, it will be much more convenient for the general public to drive to Chongqingxi Station, or transfer to other means of transport at Chongqingxi Station.
The place for taking a cab and online car-hailing has changed
The construction project of Chongqingxi Station transport hub covers a total area of 400,000 square meters and includes two phases. The first phase of the project was completed and opened to traffic in tandem with Chongqing-Guiyang Railway in January 2018, while the construction of the second phase that started at the end of 2018 has now been fully completed and it will soon open for trial operation.
The second phase of Chongqingxi Station transport hub project has a total construction area of 195,850 square meters, including stations and transfer channels of CRT Line 5 and Loop Line. The reporter saw at the site that the layout of the three basements that have been completed is as follows: the first basement is the parking area for cars hailed online; the second basement is the cab parking area and the station hall for rail transit; the third basement is the platform for CRT Line 5 and Loop Line. At present, each basement has been marked with road sighs, so that passengers can then follow the guides to their destinations.
According to the relevant person in charge of Chongqing Land Group, "After the second phase of Chongqingxi Station transport hub is put into operation, it will realize the functions of a transport hub by making it easier for passengers to transfer between a variety of transportation modes such as rail transport, buses, coaches, taxes, cars hailed online and social vehicles."
The person in charge added that after the second phase of Chongqingxi Station transport hub is put into operation, the area for riding cars hailed online and cabs will be adjusted: the temporary parking area for cars hailed online on the third basement will be relocated to the north side of the first basement, which will be able to accommodate 110 cars hailed online; the temporary parking area for cabs on the second basement will be relocated to the opposite of the railroad hall exit, which will be able to accommodate a maximum of 182 cars.
It is worth mentioning that, the areas for passengers to transfer to a bus, coach, rail or other modes of transportation, as well as the parking areas for social vehicle remain unchanged currently.
All sections of Xinfengzhong Road will be put into use
The reporter saw at the site that the construction of Xinfengzhong Road, an important part of the municipal project of Chongqingxi Station transport hub, has been completed. The newly rebuilt road is more spacious and connects ground transport the access to the two underpasses, which will effectively alleviate the current congestion problem.
The person in charge of the Chongqingxi Company said that the Xinfengzhong Road is designed in two layers. The upper layer is the ground road for the two-way six lanes (some areas possess eight lanes). The project started in Xishan Village, Jiulongpo District, and the road is classified as urban trunk road. The line runs from south to north and ends at Shangqiao Taxation Office, Shapingba District, Chongqing, after crossing Xinqu Avenue and inner loop expressway, with a total length of about 2,984 meters. The lower layer is the tunnel of Xinfengzhong Road, which consists of two-way four lanes and has a total length of 1,447.22 meters. It starts from Xishan Village, Jiulongpo District and ends at Shangqiao Middle School, Shapingba District.
After Xinfengzhong Road is put into use, it will improve the capacity of the road network in the Chongqingxi Station area, make the north-south traffic much smoother, and greatly alleviate the traffic pressure along the line.
At the same time, the construction of the four auxiliary roads supporting Xinfengzhong Road have also been completed and put into operation simultaneously with Xinfengzhong Road. These four auxiliary roads are Huakai Road that starts from Huayu Road and ends at Huarui Road, Huarui Road that connects Huakai Road and Huayansi Road, Fengxuan Road that starts from Huaxiang Road and ends at Huarui Road, and Fengteng Road starts from Xinfengzhong Road and ends at Huarui Road.
