CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- A group of people rise high into the air and dive into the river, which is almost a daily scene on the Zhongdukou Wharf under the Shimen Bridge beside Jialing River. They are the members of Chongqing Shimen Winter Swimming and Diving Team affiliated to Chongqing Winter Swimming Associate, who have been under the personal direction of the “queen of diving”, Gao Min. In this team, the youngest diver is 3 years old while the oldest one is 73 years old.

Who is the old man with white and long beard? He is Fu Yongguo, 65 years old, the captain of Chongqing Shimen Winter Swimming and Diving Team; he dives almost every day of the year.

The 3-year-old team member Li Qianxi, is a little naughty girl. She is called “Qianqian” by the team members, because in the Chongqing dialect “Qian fan er” means “naughty child”. The vice captain of Shimen Winter Swimming and Diving Team said, “the captain has been impressed by this child.” She will receive professional training after she is 5 years old. You can see that the smiling girl Qianqian stand on the nearly five-meter-high stone diving platform and then jump into the river like a small frog.

107B, bend and do a forward three-and-a-half somersault dive; 407C, tuck and do an inward three-and-a-half somersault dive. Though these professional dives are amazing, they have nothing to do with this “diving dream team”. They enjoy the sense of achievements at the moment of jumping into the water, rather than strive to make a professional dive.

Four team members lined up, and jumped up simultaneously from the diving platform after hearing the command "one, two, three". Though the movement was not consistent or uniform, and there was not any art of diving, other members on the side still warmly applauded them. They believed that everyone who has the courage to challenge himself or herself deserves applause.

To ensure the safety of all members, the experienced team member jumped into the water first to “test the water” before each diving activity started. The water level and flow vary greatly during different time periods. Sometimes the river seems to be mild, and you have to dive into the water before you know it is swift.

The "queen of diving", Gao Min, is the first Olympic gold medalist of China in springboard diving. She has come here to watch the performance of the "Diving Dream Team", and signed her name on their team's uniforms. Some people regard her signature as a treasure and never wear the uniform.

Due to the continuous high temperatures this summer in Chongqing, there was an increase in the number of citizens spending a cool summer by the riverside. Thus, the diving team "took a new job" – to save lives. Captain Fu Yongguo, has saved two people from falling into the water in five days, and was therefore rewarded by a public welfare organization.

A simple training site was set up on the wharf, and profession teachers were invited to give a drowning rescue training this time. The diving team on the Jialing River has been growing stronger from 2015 till now, and the team members have been familiar with the "temperament" of the river. They volunteer to be the "safety officers" to guard the safety of Zhongdukou Wharf.

The breeze blew over the smoothly-flowing river; some citizens sat leisurely, some took a stroll, and some played on the wharf. It seemed everyone had found a piece of mind and a pace of life of their own. The performances of these divers made a unique scene by the Jialing River. They were enjoying the joy of sports.
