CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On September 28, the first exhibition of “Splendent Galaxy: Modern Chinese Art in Chongqing (1937-1949)” was held at Art Museum of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute.

This exhibition is hosted by Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and co-sponsored by Art Museum of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, Today Art Museum, Xu Beihong Art Museum, Xu Beihong Museum, Art Museum of Central Academy of Fine Art, and Wang Qi Art Museum.

It is learned that there are 300 Chongqing-related pieces of painting by nearly 50 masters of art on display in the exhibition, including Qi Baishi's Screen of Flowers and Birds, Huang Binhong's Ink Landscape Painting, Zhang Daqian's Viewing Bamboos, Xu Beihong's Running Horses, Lin Fengmian's Dwelling on the Mountain, Wu Zuoren's Phoenix Mountain, and Shen Fuwen's Goldfish.

He Guiyan, director of Art Museum of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, introduced that with the aim to explore the genealogy and logic of the development of modern Chinese art and art education, the exhibition has showcased the art creation, education, exhibitions, etc. in Chongqing during the period between 1937 and 1949.

There are four sections in “Splendent Galaxy: Modern Chinese Art in Chongqing (1937-1949)” exhibition, namely, Well-known Schools, Famous Teachers & Scholars, Exhibition & Journal, and Art Map.
