CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On October 8, the reporter of Chongqing Daily learned from Chongqing Water Conservation Bureau that, due to rainfall and upstream water, the flood No.1 of Jialing River in 2022 had been formed at 22:00 on October 5 in Qujiang River, a tributary of Jialing River. As a result, the water level of Beibei Station No.3 of Jialing River reached the peaked at 188.93 meters at 20:00 on October 6, the water level of Ciqikou Station topped out at 176.67 meters at 23:00, and the highest water level of Cuntan Station in the upper reaches of Yangtze River reached 169.95 meters at 4:55 on October 7. As of 14:00 on October 8, the flood at important stations of Jialing River and Yangtze River has subsided and safely passed through downtown Chongqing.

In response to the flood, the water conservation bureau had made arrangements in advance by issuing Urgent Notice on the Safety of Water-related Activities, revising flood forecasts for three times, releasing three issues of Report on Significant Water Regimen, and issuing a flash flood warning three times before and after the local heavy rainfall.

In addition, the water conservation bureau instructed the water conservation bureau of Hechuan District to issue an order to the Caojie Power Station to lower the reservoir capacity in advance and retain the flood after the crest, on the premise of ensuring the safety of flood control in both upstream and downstream. Additionally, an increasing number of operators in charge reminded relevant departments in Hechuan, Beibei, Shapingba, Kaizhou, Chengkou, Yunyang, and Wuxi more than 50 times, and communicate with the people in charge in the key areas in a point-to-point manner. The inspection and control measures along the river and the prevention of flash flood disaster has been strengthened to successfully deal with the flood.
