CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- “With this new bridge, we will no longer worry about our children crossing the railway on their way to school.” On October 11, the working staff for the Fuling bridge at the Fuling construction section from China Railway Chengdu Bureau Group Co., Ltd. was working on the equipment inspection of Chongqing-Huaihua Railway. A resident living in Linshi Town, Fuling District passed through the bridge and could not help but give a thumb-up to the workers.

As a key project of the western development, Chongqing-Huaihua Railway was founded and put into use in 2006. Since the establishment of the Fuling construction section, it has been dedicated to the equipment maintenance in the Tangjiatuo-Xiushan County section of Chongqing-Huaihua Railway. The railway has been operated as a double-tracking railway instead of a single-tracking railway since the 18th CPC National Congress, with the quality of its equipment and the surrounding environment greatly improved. On July 2021, Fuxing trains made their first trips into southeast Chongqing safely and smoothly on Chongqing-Huaihua Railway, making travel easier for the citizens.

In some sections of Chongqing-Huaihua Railway, some residents were found crossing the railway occasionally. In order to completely eliminate the safety problem and ensure the safe operation of trains, the railway department has contacted the local government along the railway to implement external environmental improvement and closed network transformation. Over recent years, 64 overhead walkways and 26 culverts have been built along Chongqing-Huaihua Railway, so as to ensure safe and convenient travel for citizens.

How to build overhead walkways and culverts that offer the most convenient travel for citizens living nearby? The railway department has contacted the local government and village committees several times and with their help, they carried out in-depth investigation before gaining a comprehensive understanding of the public’s opinions. On the basis of local condition and respect for the opinions of residents, they built up overhead bridges one after another.
