  • China won't accept Olympics being politicized
    2008-07-04 15:31:03
BEIJING, July 3 (Xinhua) -- China will not accept the Olympic Games being politicized, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao on Thursday at a regular press conference.

"The Olympic Games should not be politicized according to the Olympic Charter, and this spirit should be respected and observed by all members of the Olympic family," Liu said.

He made the remark when answering a question about a few nations that had linked attendance at Games-related activities with political issues.

Any attempt to link the Olympics to politics or to interfere in China's internal affairs would not succeed, Liu said.
