Int'l philanthropist Kenneth E. Behring awarded the Certificate of "Chongqing Honorary Citizen"

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On July 24th, Chongqing Municipal People's Government Chongqing Honorary Citizen for Mr. Kenneth E. Behring Awarding Ceremony was held in Jiefangbei.

Kenneth E. Behring born in 1928 is an American who has been on the list of top 400 on the Fortune and Forbes Global Rich List for three times. Having been dedicated to charity in his later years, Behring has founded charity organizations such as Wheelchair Foundation and Global Health & Education Foundation and acted as chairman.

In November 2012, Behring officially signed the Specimen Donation Agreement with Chongqing Museum of Natural History. Up till now, he has donated 283 pieces of rare wild animal specimens and 28 pieces of articles for use of Maasai people - a primitive tribe in Africa to the museum. In addition, he has donated 11,375 wheelchairs to the disabled people in Chongqing.

Vice Mayor Tan Jialing attended the ceremony and awarded the Certificate of "Chongqing Honorary Citizen" to Behring. She expressed that Mr. Behring is an old friend of Chongqing people and both the government and people of Chongqing are deeply grateful and respectful to his selfless donations and noble charity acts. Located in Beibei New City, Chongqing Museum of Natural History completed with an investment of 400 million yuan from Chongqing Municipal People's Government has specially opened the Behring Hall with an area of 2,000 square metres to exhibit Behring’s donations, and it will be open to citizens for free within the year.
